Marilu Henner never forgets anything
If you saw the "60 Minutes" piece last night, you probably were as amazed as I was at the extraordinary longterm memories demonstrated by a tiny number of people, including "Taxi" actress Marilu Henner.
It was quite a show, putting Henner and five others through a battery of memory tests, and all of them remembering every day of their lives. Name a date in 1976, and they remember what they were wearing, doudoune moncler, what the weather was, and every detail of what they were doing or seeing.
The six people seem fairly normal, except that each is slightly more orderly than the average person. Henner, for example, us how well organized she kept her clothes and shoes. It seems each of the brainiacs is able to store autobiographical memories in similarly organized ways.
Unusual brains. Leslie Stahl talked with a scientist who had scanned the brains of the six. He one particular section of their brains that was unusually large. The question asked: Do these people remember every day of their lives because that part of the brain is large, or is that part of the brain large because they exercise an otherwise innate ability?
